Writing a reflective blog is always a bit of a challenge the first time students do it. They wonder (rightfully so) what do I write about?; what have we done?; What if I don't have anything to write about?; etc. Valid questions all.
I ask them to consider what they like/dislike about the course to this point, what do they think of the poetry they hear at the beginning of each period, how is the class similar or different to other classes they take.
In the beginning, the reflections are just a way to get used to blog writing - which is new to many students - I am confident they will soon write concise well-thought pieces as the weeks move forward. My feedback will guide them and inspire confidence in their experience in the class.
